ETC selected Simthetiq to provide a rapid, cost-effective terrain solution for use in their Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (ADMS) product. Simthetiq’s objective was to develop a multi-state synthetic terrain (database) of Bima and Padang in Indonesia, which will be used to train first-responders and emergency management teams in dealing with a whole range of natural disasters.
The Bima and Padang regions of Indonesia were identified by the end-user as high-risk areas for mudslides, earthquakes, and floods. Both synthetic training environments were built with GIS data to generate geo-specific roads and buildings and properly replicate the density of the environment. This flexible method was chosen to rapidly expand the training zone to a larger area of interest (AOI), or add additional details. Ultimately this will help rescue teams to be better prepared and save more lives in the event of a potential catastrophe.
