Simthetiq completes SE-CORE visual database upgrade for Common Driver Trainer Program
In May 2014, Simthetiq was selected by Raydon Corp. for a rapid delivery service contract to provide visual database enhancements. The upgrades added important new training elements to a pre-existing openflight terrain database for the US Army’s SE-CORE based CDT Program (Common Driver Trainer).
Simthetiq worked closely with Raydon’s engineers and simulation specialists to provide a number of new features that will extend the life of the terrain and ensure a close match with operational situations, adding river fording, potholes, bridge fallouts and a complex roundabout in the narrow and busy streets of Afghanistan.
Simthetiq was eligible to work on this important program thanks to their membership of the Canada-US Joint Certification Program. Membership of the JCP requires companies to undergo a mutual security clearance process, which, once cleared, allows them to access controlled but unclassified Military Critical Technical Data and Technology of both countries.
Simthetiq CEO Vincent Cloutier says: “For us, this was a great opportunity to show that as a Canadian company, we can offer our expertise to enrich existing training databases used by the US Army. Current simulators do not always need to be upgraded with the latest technologies to meet new training objectives; a rapid terrain database upgrade can enhance both the visual quality and training capabilities simultaneously.”
As a developer of 3D solutions for simulation, research and serious gaming, Simthetiq develops custom 3D visual content and applications to produce some of the most immersive training solutions in the industry.
