GENERAL INFORMATION

Simthetiq is pleased to announce the imminent release of Virtual Khairabad, an openflight real-time geo-specific database, for training in virtual synthetic environments.
This terrain is the result of a seamless blend between art and technical skills that results in a truely immersive 360-degree realistic simulation.

The database of Khairabad covers rural, urban and mountain regions, making this COTS product ideal for multiple scenarios ranging from UAV operation to close combat tactical simulation. Thousands of reference pictures have been used to re-create this virtual environment. All possible features including fences, roads, buildings and tree locations have been extracted from the imagery to ensure a correlation with the real-world.

SPECIFICATIONS

-Approximately 100 square kilometers in size
-4 levels of detail for the terrain model
-Multiple levels of detail for 3D features
-Normal and thermal textures
-Geo-specific Imagery included as GeoTIFF or Quickbirds satellite imagery with a 60cm resolution
-Uses approximately 1 gigabyte of disk space
-Option for scaleability of the synthetic environment database
-Environment database available in various formats

Other format such as OneSAF, OpensceneGrah, Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2), Common Database Format (CDB), Google Earth, Multi Elevation Surfaces (MES), Crytek, Source and Microsoft FSX available upon request.

By producing optimized texture blocks and geometry, we now offer all of our products in Google Earth format upon request.

SHAPE FILE

The features have all been extracted manually from the imagery and vectorized to produce optimized shape files. During the construction of the database, we enhance the vector data to produce 3 dimensional shape files that can be used to enhance the 3d content. Feature extraction includes:

-field contours
-field grass
-tree lines
-building footprints
-fences
-roads
-3D features (as single point)

3D INTERIOR

The first release of the database, version 1.0, includes a small portion of the database with 3D interiors. Future versions will include the entire area with walkable 3D interiors, all fully furnished with typical Afghan furniture.
